Mihi whakatau
What to expect
A mihi whakatau is a form of welcome similar to a pōwhiri, but less formal.
In this case, the mihi whakatau is an official welcome for all guests at the AMINZ 2025 Conference. This will be guided by mana whenua from The purpose of the mihi whakatai is to remove the tapu (restrictions) of the manuhiri (visitors) to make them one with the tangata whenua (hosts).
The purpose of the mihi whakatau is to recognise both the wānanga (the place and time for meaningful dialogue) created within the conference and the overarching mission of AMINZ. This mission revolves around uniting like-minded individuals as a cohesive collective, facilitating the exchange of their wisdom and expertise.
